Geek thrills

In all the years since Star Wars came out, and in all the varying levels of geekdom I've achieved, I don't think I've ever seen this particular picture. Talk about a pop culture relic.

All together in their civvies. Young and innocent. And no idea what a cultural tsunami they'd be riding.

Geez louise. Carrie Fisher must be 4'11".

According to IMDB, Carrie Fisher is 5'1" and Harrison Ford is 6'1". That must have been interesting doing their love scenes - I hope she stood on a box.

I love this picture.

Here it is...from IMDB again, "Carrie Fisher had to stand on a box for most of her scenes with him in the Star Wars trilogy because she was a foot shorter than him and did not properly fit into the frame."

I'm picturing all the scenes where she was bitching him out. Hard to get up in someone's face when you have to pull up a box to do it.

It's a great pic, huh? They were probably doing publicity tours, where everybody was asking them, "So, what's this Star Wars about? The Force? Is it a police movie?"

Well, let's just say that CF was as innnocent as she was ever going to be. There were a lot of pills under the bridge yet to come.

Thanks for the article! I'm praying that the uke band that plays the theme from Shaft is somewhere on the YouTube. Sounds like that fest would be a great time. Ukulele people are among the coolest.
