Obviously she's never had my momma's chicken fried steak.

Now that sounds like it might be yummy!

The poor dear may never have tasted strawberries, (real) whipped cream, lobster with drawn butter, bacon, etc. (pausing here a few seconds remembering all your posts on bacon).

I think I've made myself hungry.

One word: CHOCOLATE!

If you've only had chicken fired steak at the Black Eyed Pea or the like, you don't know what you're missing. My Mom's CSF is like heaven. Add in cream gravy and mashed potatoes, and it's a wonder you don't have to roll me down the street.

Mmmmm. Bacon. Speaking of which, The Minimalist, at the NY Times food section has a video on making prosciutto wrapped sweet potatoes. I lubb that man. Check out his 101 make ahead dishes this week too, if you need Thanksgiving inspiration.

And mos' definitely: Chocolate.

Oh, yes, chocolate! I left that out. Shame on me as chocolate is one of the four Food Groups.

When's dinner? I LOVE me some good chicken fried steak. We went to some restaurant in Austin and Mike ordered it and it was NASTY. Tasked like deep-fried fish. The batter was too greasy and just a hard lump on the outside of the steak. Yukky.

Bad chicken fried steak is just a sin. Especially in a place where tourists might eat it and get the completely wrong idea.

I only have 3 food groups. Salt, Fat and Sweet. Any combination of those 3. It's why kettle corn is the perfect food.

FP - my brother is a kettle corn addict. Nexttime you are in DC, make sure it is over a Friday so you can go to the USDA farmers mkt (right near the Smithsonian metro stop) the line for kettle corn is LONG but worth it - fresh made and by the BUCKET! I discovered it this summer and made it my lunch pn several occasions.

Awwww yeah! Sounds like a plan! I'll go to just about any festival in hopes of scoring a kettle corn fix.
